Livia did AWESOME at the dentist. We went to Monroe Pediatrics Dentistry which is right down the street off of Forsgate. The dental hygienist was excellent...she made Livia feel so comfortable and relieved any anxiety Livia may have had. She showed Livia all of the instruments she was going to use by testing them on her hand and fingers first. This way Livia knew what they felt like and had no reason to be nervous. They explained that they were going to count her teeth, clean them and even put princess sparkles on them afterwards (aka floride).
Unfortunately, Daddy and Mommy did not do so awesome. Turns out that I shouldn't be giving her gummy vitamins (even though they are from the honest co.), which I thought was a great alternative to having any type of gummy snack. Oh, and apparently, Livia should only have milk (at meal time only) and water. Nothing else, even if it's all organic, no added sugar etc. Dr. Lisa was completely against any type of juice, even if I made it with water and fruit. She made me feel horrible about giving her any juice. I did explain that Livia drinks water all day, milk in the morning and evening and only has juice at lunch. Her tone changed a little saying only at lunch is not bad. I felt as though she thought I was giving it to her all day every day. Ok, enough on the rant.
End result...Livia's teeth are beautiful and she has no cavities. They are also spaced far enough apart where flossing is not necessary until the teeth grow closer together.
Here are pictures of Livia at the dentist.
Livia did such a great job that she received 2 stickers, pair of sunglasses and a toy from the toybox.

If I could get my son to behave a fraction of how you raised your child, I would be a happy camper. Getting the kids into the dentist at that age is so important today because the majority of stuff they eat or drink is packed with tons of sugary ingredients that are destroying their teeth.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment...and also for checking out my blog...each year I create a book from it so we have a "family photo album" for the years as they go by. I didn't think anyone really bothered with this blog except a few relatives.
